Position inexpensive massed squads to make first contact. Expensive ranged machines need time to fire. Watch the actual contact order: the closest model is not always the first target.
FIELD MANUAL / 02
Four habits for your first matches. These principles guide experimentation; the right answer depends on the opposing formation.
Position inexpensive massed squads to make first contact. Expensive ranged machines need time to fire. Watch the actual contact order: the closest model is not always the first target.
Spread your valuable squads when the opponent deals area damage. A tight formation can share support but invites artillery. Check both sides of your deployment.
Aircraft require machines that can attack air targets. More bodies do not help when their weapons cannot engage the threat. Check each machine’s information card.
After a loss, identify the cause: range, screening, weapon matchups or an exposed flank. Change a position or add a counter and watch the next battle. Learn more than you would by randomly buying the most expensive platform.
